Only when you learn the importance of keywords and become more strategic about content will you start to see much results and growth on your blog or website.

In fact, knowing the right keywords to use, you can produce less content yet drive more traffic to your blog.

How to Do Keyword Research on Keysearch

The majority of users prefer to utilize Keysearch to conduct keyword research for their blogs… The good news is that it’s a simple procedure!

When you login into your Keysearch account, this is what you’ll see.

The keyword research function is the default window, so you can get right to work on your keyword research!

Here’s an overview of the many items you’ll find in this window.

#1: Search a Keyword

The field for inputting the keyword you’d like to check is on the top left.

In the section on the right, you may also pick the country and what other information you’d like to see. We usually leave it as “Related keywords” so that we can see if there are any other ranking keywords that are related to the one we looked up.

To retrieve the results, simply type your keyword into this form and then click “Search.”

#2: Keyword Search Results

This section shows the result of your keyword search.

Volume and Competition are the two most important considerations:

  • The volume of searches for this keyword indicates how many people are looking for it. The volume in the sample above is 27,100, which is quite large (i.e. a lot of people are seeking travel backpack advice!)
  • The level of competition indicates how simple or tough it is to rank on Google’s first page for this phrase. By awarding both a difficulty and a numerical score, Keysearch makes this clear. With a score of 46, you can see that competition is “moderate.”

Keywords with a high or medium volume but a low difficulty score are the best to target.

#3: Search Trends

The search patterns for the keyword are displayed here over time. You should aim for keywords that have a consistent demand throughout time.

However, when evaluating search patterns, context is equally crucial.

In this example above, as the demand for travel is currently low, it’s unsurprising that the demand for travel backpacks has also fallen in the last few months.

Seasonality is another factor to consider. At particular periods of the year, some keyword searches may be more popular.

Being able to see search patterns can help you plan out your content calendar more strategically.

When you publish fresh material, it takes time for it to appear on Google and climb the rankings. So, if a keyword has a high demand period near the end of the year, it’s a good idea to publish it ahead of time so that your content is already ranking when people search for it!

#4: SERP Analysis

The term SERP (Search Engine Results Pages) refers to the results that appear when a user searches for a keyword. When it comes to keywords, you want to be on the first page of the search engine results pages!

This section lists the top ten blogs and websites currently ranking for the keyword you’re looking for.

Some of the boxes are pink, while others are green or yellow, as you may have seen. This is how Keysearch makes it simple to examine the information at a glance. Pink denotes extreme difficulty, yellow denotes neutrality, and green denotes ease/opportunity.

In this section, there are three important points to consider:

  • The metrics PA (Page Authority) and DA (Domain Authority) indicate how authoritative a website is. It will be impossible to compete with a top 10 full of sites with a high DA unless your website is also authoritative. Keysearch has highlighted the high-DA sites with a pink box in the sample above. It will be easier to rank for the term if the page has a low PA.
  • The other major metric we consider links. This indicates the number of backlinks the page has; the larger the number, the higher the page’s authority.

If the keyword appears in the page title, meta descriptions, or URL, the Title, DESC, and URL columns will show you. There are a few more on-site SEO options for the keyword that you might not be aware of.

There are also two “hidden” tabs titled “Rankings/Traffic” and “Social,” which include additional information that you may find valuable at a later time:

  • Rankings/Traffic lists all of the keywords for which the article ranks. To see the list, simply click on the numbers. You can use these to discover what other keywords you might be able to rank for.
  • Social indicates how easily a topic may be shared. You’ll see how many times the story has been shared on social media sites like Facebook and Pinterest. This could be quite beneficial to your Pinterest approach!

Is DA really that important? This score, created by leading software company Moz, forecasts how well your site will rank in search engines. As you may expect, new blogs will start with a low DA because you haven’t had the time or opportunity to build up your authority.

However, a low DA does not rule out the possibility of high search engine rankings. Remember, this is just a guess based on the number of backlinks pointing to your site.

The most important thing is to create your content around the concept of an Authority Fortress and increase your Google authority.

#5: Related Keywords

You’ll see a long list of keywords connected to the one you were looking for. You’ll see the volume and score for each keyword.

Use the “Filter” tool to refine your search based on term, volume, score, and more to find relevant keywords.

We recommend filtering the related keywords and then checking the scores of the terms you’re interested in using the “Bulk Check” tool. This way, you won’t waste time searching for keywords that you don’t care about.

The “Export” tool, which allows you to download data in CSV/Excel format, is another feature we like.

It’s quite simple to identify variations of your keyword to add, or if your original keyword is too challenging, you may locate a similar one that is less competitive using this method.

Let’s look at how you’d use data from related keywords with the travel backpacks keyword as an example.

While “best travel backpacks” has the most traffic, there are a number of other excellent keywords with significant volume. Their difficulty ratings are likewise in the same ballpark.

As a result, we’d like to include these keywords in our travel backpacks article as well, so that it has a chance to rank for these terms as well.

Remember that a well-written, SEO-optimized post should rank for more keywords than the one you started with! Take advantage of the opportunity to target additional related and relevant keywords that your viewers may be looking for.

Another reason to use Keysearch is that they provide a browser add-on that allows you to do keyword research in your browser while using Google search!

How to Use the Bulk Keyword Difficulty Checker at Keysearch

The Term Research option is wonderful for searching for a single keyword at a time, but what if you want to search for multiple keywords at once?

Enter Keysearch’s Quick Difficulty Tool.

Simply select “Keyword Research” from the navigation bar to bring up a drop-down menu. Choose “Quick Difficulty.”

  • Instead of only one term, you can input a list of up to 50 keywords to search at once (1)
  • The bulk keyword search results will appear in (2), and you simply click on each keyword to get their respective detailed results.

This program is one of our favorites because it allows us to search for a large number of keywords at once. You may then quickly analyze the volume and difficulty of each term before clicking through to learn more about the ones you’re interested in.

How to Use Keysearch to Track Your Keyword Rankings

Do you want to keep track of your SEO progress? With Keysearch’s Rank Tracking feature, you can keep track of your keywords.

To use this tool, go to the menu bar and select “Rank Tracking.”

After you’ve added your domain to the tool, you’ll see this window, which asks you to enter the keywords you want to track.

Simply enter them and click “Submit” to keep track of their ranks.

While Keysearch has a feature called “We’ve Found Keywords” that detects the keywords you’re ranking for you, we advocate using the manual feature of entering your own keywords. You can be more deliberate about your tracking this way.

Remember that the Starter Plan allows you to track up to 80 keywords.

How to Use Keysearch to Conduct Competitor Analysis

Keysearch’s Competitive Analysis tools are great for finding out what your competitors are up to in terms of SEO.

So, how can you use these technologies to keep an eye on your rivals?

Find Out What Keywords Your Competitors Are Ranking For

In the menu bar, select “Competitive Analysis,” then “Organic Keywords.” This tool will show you which keywords your competitors are ranking for.

You can search for a specific page or the entire domain. This is a wonderful approach to learn about your competitors’ SEO strategies.

We’ve done an organic keyword search on the top-ranking post for “best travel backpacks” in the sample below.

To do so, type the URL into the search area, then pick “Specific Page” from the drop-down menu and click “Search.” In this case, Keysearch discovered that this content was rated for more than 2,000 keywords!

You can gain ideas for other keywords to include in your post or even new articles by glancing at the list of organic keywords.

Identify Content Gaps Between You and Your Competitors

How to Check Your Backlinks Using Keysearch

If you’re working on your off-site SEO and want to check your backlinks, you can also do this with Keysearch.

Their Backlink Checker is nested under the “Competitive Analysis” tab. Click on it and select the backlink checker from the drop-down menu.

To retrieve the results, simply type in your domain name, select “Entire Domain,” and click “Search.”

You’ll obtain results for the precise URL you’ve entered if you choose the “Specific Page” option in the search field. When you’re generating links to certain articles that you want to establish authority for, this feature can be really useful.

You can use this tool to check out the backlink profile of competitors’ websites in addition to using it on your own domain.

It’s worth noting that the “Domain Strength” measure is unique to Keysearch and has nothing to do with Domain Authority.
